Grammar Punctuation Toolkit for Flawless Essays

Current grammar punctuation is important for the integrity of an essay with the help of essay writing service. Without it, an essay wouldn’t be able to communicate complex thoughts and patterns eloquently to the reader.

Apostrophe

An Apostrophe is used to show ownership.

Example of possession: The student’s car.

Example of plural possession: The students’ car.

Plural nouns will have an apostrophe after the s. If the plural form of a noun doesn’t have -es or -s at the end such as ‘men’ then it will have the same apostrophe as a singular noun.

An apostrophe can be used to contract a word.

Example: You are right, it is Jerry’s car. instead of it is

Example (with an apostrophe): You’re right, it’s Jerry’s car.

Brackets

The brackets are used to enclose additional information in a text:

Even though you can get a free essay writer from a platform to correct your writing and punctuation, you should have a general idea about grammar punctuation.

“They [the robbers] got away from the police.”

Colon

A colon can be used between two independent clauses, where the first lead up to the next and the colon emphasizes the second

It’s also used when announcing a list of things.

Comma

A comma separates or indicates the extra information in the sentence. Usually, it separates an introductory phrase from the main clause.

Example: Despite the long travel [the introductory phrase], he never failed to visit his sick mother during the weekends[Main clause].

They are also used with coordination conjunctions (for, and, nor, because, or, yet, so).

Semicolons

Semicolons are used between two independent clauses. Using a semicolon instead of a full stop indicates that the two sentences are closely related to each other.

Example: The army vehicle halted for the boy to run past, while the boy waited for the vehicle to pass too; they shared this courtesy for a good three minutes.

Another use of a semicolon is during the listing, especially if the list contains phrases that have commas in them.

Hyphens

Hyphen is usually denoted with a single dash ‘-’. It is used to form compound words that work as a modifier to the object or the subject of a sentence: such as compound adjectives and compound nouns.

Example: A well-educated boy shouldn’t be working at the dry-cleaners.

Dashes

The Em dash which is at times written with a double hyphen is used in the place of a comma(but considered less formal), especially when building up to a punchline or adding a bit of extra information. Dashes are also used to separate additional information when a comma or commas have already been used in the sentence.

Quotation Marks

Quotation marks are used in various essays. They are used in descriptive and narrative essays to write my essay, and in persuasive and expository essays to quote an excerpt from a paper.

In punctuating dialogues, the quotation mark usage can tell you a lot about the flow of dialogue.

For example: “I told him to come inside,” said Ruper. Here the comma should be inside the quotation mark preceding the dialogue tag.

If the dialogue continued:

“And I am glad I did, for a bolt of lightning struck right where he was standing.

Here, no closing quotation marks indicate that the same narrator is continuing with the speech.

The conclusion just presents the essay overview. Hence, by only editing the body and the introduction you allow for a complete conclusion.

Ellipses

The three consecutive full stops are ellipses: ‘...’

In narrative and descriptive writing, it can be used to show a trailing off or a pause in a sentence, or a faltering dialogue.

“I was sitting around the corner, minding my own business, when…” her voice trailed off.

“It’s okay Ma’am,” the officer pacified her,” try and take a few deep ...”

“Pardon, I think I took one on your part too,

He chuckled, and she couldn’t help but smile too.

While informal writing ellipses can be of good use when the useful sentences in a long passage are lined apart. You can use ellipses to quote the lines you want. Example: “Line 1...Line2...Line 3. Line 4.”
